The William C. Schumacher Family Foundation partnered with Love Acadiana to create Love Our Schools, an initiative that brings together the public sector, individuals, businesses, churches, and nonprofit organizations to help revolutionize the educational system in support of a brighter future for our children and our state. 

Because of the William C. Schumacher Family Foundation’s significant contribution, in addition to contributions from a variety of community-minded sponsors, Love Our Schools was able to garner the help of 3,000 volunteers to help revitalize eight schools, stuff 5,000 backpacks with school supplies for each of the children in those schools, give $150 gift cards to the 750 teachers and staff, and provide $5,000 to each school…and that was all in its very first year.  Here are some additional stats on the impact made:

• 5,000 uniform vouchers
• 60,000 pencils
• 765 library books
• 605 gallons of paint
• 425 pre-k student nap blankets
• 220 dry erase white boards
• 64 metal picnic tables
• 19 pallets of mulch
• 5,800 notes of encouragement
